J. Cole ft. Miguel – “Power Trip” [LISTEN]

After the release of Truly Yours and his first single, “Miss America” from his upcoming sophomore album Born Sinner, Cole dropped this song on Valentine’s Day, it’s set to be on the new project. The standout statement to take from this track is that Cole is back and he means business. The song was compared to Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River” by Cole himself, the vibes are similar, as he mixes a smooth, R&B feel with some punchy bars. Cole produced the song himself, his production career is becoming increasingly more renowned, he’s not just a seasoned artist, but a seasoned producer too. Miguel adds to the likeness of the song, his vocals go well with any track, as he first proved in “Lotus Flower Bomb”. But all in all, Cole has produced a track that goes against how hip-hop is moving at the moment; his gamble has paid off, good looking both Cole and Miguel. Check it out; give it a listen. Enjoy.
